Akaila is a small kennel located in Snohomish WA.  Our introduction to the breed was in 1992 when we decided it was time for a new dog in our life. We were looking for a breed that would fit our active lifestyle and had narrowed our search down to two breeds. That all changed when we went to visit a local malamute breeder and met their #1 show dog “Casey”.  Casey sold us on the  breed and  we knew then that an Alaskan Malamute was for us.  Soon after we brought home Kaila Loo and that local malamute breeder went on to become our mentor in the breed.

We are members of The Alaskan Malamute Club of America (AMCA), and our local specialty club the Snow King Alaskan Malamute Fanciers. We enjoy many activities with our dogs like hiking, agility, obedience, conformation showing, and Barn Hunt.

As breeders, we feel public education is very important. Our Mals go to public schools to teach “large dog” awareness to small children. In addition, we are guests of Seattle Kennel Club yearly ”Meet the Breeds” exhibit for purebred dog education that highlights the importance of finding a good breeder.

In 2012 we had a special honor and are very proud to have our dogs invited to be the “stars” of the 2012 Eddie Bauer winter catalog. They had a great time in the local snowy mountains schmoozing all the catalog models and crew.
